In this article, we’ll focus on four of the biggest problems: displaying AR experiences in large spaces, the ability for multiple users to see the same content, stable placement of AR content in space without floating side-effect, and the freedom to create your own AR experiences
Introducing Edge Realities
With Edge Realities, the whole AR experience is happening remotely, on the server side. Thanks to that, the battery life is extended, overheating reduced and complex 3D content can be shown for multiple users, on a really large-scale.
Solution 1: Large-scale spaces mapping
Visual SLAM algorithm immediately localizes users in a mapped environment. In the case of this video, our SLAM allowed the user to map and add overlays to a very complicated, indoor environment. Next, the user was able to smoothly deploy persistent and precisely anchored AR content.
Solution 2: Multi-user experiences
Edge Realities makes the AR multiuser experience a realistic one. By mapping any space (Edge Realities can map any space, even one that’s thousands of square meters), we can then simply anchor a “game board” onto our map. The localization in space will remain persistent, even with a fast shaking or accidental covering of the camera on the device. This means that multiple users can see the same content, from different angles and in real-time. What makes this multiuser experience so great? Multi-users can interact with each other and with AR content that is persistent, synchronized, and precisely anchored in the real world.
Solution 3: Precisely anchored content
Do you see the green dots on the video? These are the characteristic points of the environment that our SLAM recognizes- these green points enable the display of virtual content properly and instantly localized on a user’s device. Or, our SLAM lets can share your AR experience with someone else, or with many others in real-time. This mapping functionality is what makes Edge Realities unique and powerful.
Solution 4: No coding skills are needed
On any location of the virtual map that we have created with a mobile device, the solution lets us enhance our augmented reality experience by adding AR content or any other dynamic content into the natural world. We can do this either directly on the device that we created our map with, or in the browser-based Edge Realities platform.
Smooth, agile, useful and practical, Edge Realities can reshape how your business operates.
